By GRACE we are saved.

Surpringsingly to most this topic touches their pride, because they believe -as I once did- that by being good or making good deeds you  will be saved. WRONG. I am sorry it’s not that way, even though you may be reproaching and trying to find a bible verse where your thought is validated.

On the contrary, there is a bible verse about this argument that I totally attach:

Ephesians 28-9

Let’s start with the first phrase:

FOR IT IS BY GRACE YOU HAVE BEEN SAVED, THROUGH FAITH.

By God’s GRACE, because the love and mercy for his children surpasses everything that you and I can imagine. You have been saved, because he doesn’t  want us to suffer, we are his children lost and then found. Through faith, this is by believing in God without doubt and with all of our heart, because he sent his only son to save us. He is omnipotent, sovereign, the creator of all that we see, that loves us unconditionally even though we are sinners. He want us to not sin anymore and look for his grace instead, which is wonderful and eternal.

AND THIS IS NOT FROM YOURSELVES, IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD.

Here it’s emphasized: This is not from yourselves, because who are we but ashes? (Psalms 103:14) and God knows our nature and His: Omnipotent and sovereign over all the earth and sky (Psalms 103).

NOT BY WORKS, SO THAT NO ONE CAN BOAST.

Well written it is: NOT BY WORKS. So, let’s not go saying: I am good, I don’t harm anyone. All good deeds in our eyes doesn’t make us worthy of the Divine Grace.  Our acceptance and declaration that Jesus is the only way, truth and life, our Lord and Savior, THAT IS OUR WORK: Accept Jesus like our only way to salvation. SO THAT NO ONE CAN BOAST says the scripture, because we are not saints nor perfect , and we are not exempt from sin, but God is: He is Holy, Sovereign and Almighty Lord. He can receive all the glory.

Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.             1 Corinthians 1:26-31

I pray that a lot of you can look for Jesus in your lives, so you may enjoy the great peace and joy by being under his grace. There is not a most beautiful and wonderful gift that the world could offer, because all that is from the earth ends, but God remains . Amen.

  1. Beautifully put, Friend. His Word, so full of truth and grace, has corrected my hidden pride often by this verse and then some! A good reminder that there is nothing we can do to earn his love and nothing we can do to lose his love…
