I have tons and tons I would love to share. God is amazingly good to me. But I will focus in the main reason why I am so passionate about Him and His Word. You need to understand where I am coming in from. My whole life I was raised as catholic, doing all that is required by the church. Since my mid 20’s I began to actually wonder why I didn’t feel the passion or love for God that was proclaimed to me. I wondered if the tiresome and monotonous way to receive his word was received equally among others. I made such an effort to “like” the way The Word was given to me. But there were a lot of things that didn’t quite fulfill my spirit with the joy and happiness we should feel when aligned to him. I longed for God but didn’t’ get the response I was looking for. Everything was so tightly orquestrated. There was no joy in me. And, before I continue, I want to say to those that differ from me, that they may ask God to reveal his truth to them, and don’t feel that what has been taught to them for generations is true, because it is only tradition. God is so faithful and so loving that when his children ( all of us ) ask for his presence and word He will be diligent to respond. I can give testimony of this great faithfulness. He is our Father in heaven and as parents here on earth always are there for their children, rest assured God is always here for you. Just needs your complete faith in him and the One who He sent to give us salvation for eternity: Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the basis of Christianism. After Jesus rose from the dead and entrusted the great commision to his disciples, he proclaimed himself as worthy to command them, because God had already given him the authority to do so:
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me”
Well, I don’t think there’s a doubt in this statement. All authority was given to Jesus Christ by God. No one can tell you that Jesus is another prophet, or that whatever he did is nothing less than what the disciples would have done. No one is like Jesus. NO ONE. No authority is given to man, because man don’t have the capacity. Man in inherently sinful and imperfect, therefore not suitable to judge or command. He then commands them to make disciples, baptize them, teach them to obey everything He has commanded. It’s important ton emphasize this last part that says: “… To obey everything I have command you”. Who has commanded us? And what had He commanded us?
17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
Murder
21 “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ 22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment.Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.
23 “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.
25 “Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still together on the way, or your adversary may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison. 26 Truly I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.
Adultery
27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ 28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.
Divorce
31 “It has been said, ‘Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.’32 But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her the victim of adultery, and anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
Oaths
33 “Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not break your oath, but fulfill to the Lord the vows you have made.’ 34 But I tell you, do not swear an oath at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne; 35 or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. 36 And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. 37 All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.
Eye for Eye
38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. 40 And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. 41 If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. 42 Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.
Love for Enemies
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Matthew 5:17-48
Jesus is very clear, yet again that He is not “abolishing” what was given as law prior to his coming. He came to make sure everything got accomplished. He is obedient and did all that God the Father asked him to do to fulfill the prophecies. He is the culmination of what the prophets said about him. In him everything is made perfect. Jesus identity is clearly understood all around the scriptures. We cannot even think about God without thinking in Jesus Christ. They are one. Then, how is it that people separate them? Do you understand that this separation is never held in any passage of the scripture? The contrary statement – God and Jesus as one – on the other hand is all around it. And we find a multitude of verses ( The One who comes from above, Honor the Son like the Father, I and the Father are one, Our only salvation, Our intercessor,Beautiful promise ). Here one that captures all of the important points about Jesus. Read this passage that John wrote. It’s the beautiful core of who Jesus is::
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
15 (John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, “This is the one I spoke about when I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’”) 16 Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known. John 1:1-18
This passage gets me so excited and so fascinated with Jesus even more. I hope it does the same to you. Jesus is life. We have life in Jesus… No matter what people tell you, Jesus gives life, and love, compassion, mercy, wisdom, truth. Everything was made through him and without him nothing could have been made. Now I ask you this: How can you exclude Jesus from the equation of God when Jesus is the revelation of God himself? How can we deny his power and holiness when God had given Jesus the power over all? ( see Matthew 28 above) Jesus is the Son of God. He is no prophet like many would say. Verse 10 says “the world did not recognize him”, sounds familiar? Do you recognize Jesus as he is? Or are you blinded thinking that the world tells you otherwise? Since when were men given authority to say who He is? We have to believe who He is for what He is. Period. Read Luke 24:47. It reads: His followers will preach IN HIS NAME. Notice a very important part: IN HIS NAME. Not the name of any man or woman, but the name of the Word, who is in God and God is in Him: Jesus Christ. I don’t want to make this long, because if I don’t restrain myself I would fill pages and pages full of Jesus truth. He is alive and gives me the joy and strength to say this to you with certainty. I have no doubts whatsoever about Jesus sovereignty, holiness, power and place in heaven. I have Him living inside me and fueling his Spirit into me and I am humbled by it, because I am not worthy of his love and faithfulness, but I also know that doesn’t matter to Jesus. I know that He only desires willing hearts that allow him to dwell inside of them. To fill, heal, lift our soul and minds towards him. I pray for you so you may also hunger for the knowledge of Jesus. Believe when I say this: YOU WILL NOT BE THE SAME. And this other person that you may become will be living in freedom with a wonderful promise from the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who came, suffered, sacrificed himself, died, and rose from the dead FOR YOU. He is at the right hand of God right now. And He loves you. And He wants you. And He wants to heal you. Would you respond to Jesus? Much love to you!
